SUMMARY:Fringe Dance
DESCRIPTION:Presenting new Dance work by Rebekah Ann Chappell\, Mandi Moore and Olivia Meeks\, Mary Beth Nolan\, Danielle Kinne\, Vania Claiborne and Lindsey Bramham Howie.   \n\nRebekah Chappell / Not at All\nNot at All…. comments on construction and embodiment of femininity. \nPhotography by Orfeas Skutelis\nNot at All….is a new solo work that comments on the construction and embodiment of femininity. The score serves as means to disrupt habits of being\, claiming power and agency. Three white fans and large moving boxes frame the performance space\, constantly shifting location and metaphorical expression. \nWebsite: www.rebekahchappell.com \n\nMandi Moore & Olivia Meeks / Filtering\n“Filtering”\nChoreographed by Mandi Moore & Olivia Meeks\nMusic by Zach Moore \n \n“Filtering” is an exploration and abstraction on the Cocktail Party Effect\, which is when one can focus one’s auditory attention on a particular stimulus while filtering out a range of other stimuli. To reach this effect\, we use movement\, mirror-like objects\, and original music to stimulate the audience. \n\nMary Beth Nolan / A Solo\nA Solo will debut in Greensboro’s Fringe Festival 2019; a work inspired by thoughts\, feelings\, and experiences post-graduation. \n \nI am using this process to exercise my choreographic skills on myself to present to the public since I have never choreographed nor performed it in front of an audience. It is a piece that showcases challenges I have and continue to face as an artist in everyday life. With no prominent meaning\, it is a chance for me to discover movement for my body and your eyes. \n\nDanielle Kinne / Father Waiting Time\nRemembering\, letting go\, holding on\, forgiving\, saying goodbye and moving forward.. \nPhoto Credit: sskettering photography\nThis work is about remembering the good and bad\, letting go of the physical\, holding onto the past\, and saying goodbye. As I watched my father sleeping in his hospital bed\, I sifted through feelings of guilt\, anger\, loss and resentment. I saw his weakness\, while searching for my strength. \nWebsite: backforthtohere.tumblr.com \n\n(Bro)tha/Brother\n(Bro)tha/Brother celebrates and explores black male joy\, friendship\, and uniqueness. \n \n(Bro)tha/Brother celebrates and explores black male joy\, friendship\, and uniqueness. This work provides a space to humanize the black male image\, and give men the chance to embody their own stories.Brothas will get to journey through coming of age\, wrestle with hypermasculinity\, and embrace the joy of being supported. \nVania Claiborne \nInsta: @theycallme_vanya\nTwitter: @Vclaiborne \nDevonte Wells\nInsta: @therealdwells \nJordan Medley\nInsta: @Jordan.medley\nTwitter: @JordanMedley \nTag us on social media: #Brotha \n\nLindsey Bramham Howie / Fractured II\nFractured II examines love\, and the rise and fall in relationships. \n \nFractured II\, a work choreographed by Lindsey Howie\, explores the ever evolving relationship between three individuals. Set to music by Reid Willis\, the work is an examination of love\, and relationships that rise and fall. While relationships do not always endure\, love can remain disguised as a host of other emotions\, hate\, frustration\, or even contentment. \nTitle of Work: Fractured II\nChoreography by Lindsey Bramham Howie\nPerformed by Kaylah Davis\, Jessica Homan\, and Grace Ann Letzinger\nMusic by Reid Willis \n
